ABOUT BEST BET LOTTERY SOFTWARE
---------------------------------
The Best Bet(tm) Lottery Software was designed by Lottery players for
Lottery players. We strive to provide the most useful features possible
while keeping our costs low and the program affordable for you. Your
input and suggestions for improving the program are important to us.
BEST BET was originally developed for the Texas Lotto, a pick 6 lottery.
Since then, we received numerous requests for supporting other states'
lottery drawings. Now BEST BET supports most common lotteries across the
U.S.A. and is capable of supporting lottery games around the globe via
its custom game definition feature.
No computer program can reliably predict the future outcome of a
mathematically unpredictable lottery drawing. Best Bet is designed to
assist you in making more intelligent choices. By providing its various
functions, Best Bet Lottery Software gives you more information to use in
choosing lottery numbers, analyze past winning results, "wheel" numbers
and play the lottery. Or perhaps you are just starting out and would
like to learn more about the lottery and how to play it before actually
playing it. Best Bet can assist you in becoming more knowledgable about
the lottery and how it is played.
About BEST BET's Random Number Selection
The actual lottery drawings consist of a lottery machine which contains
fifty or so ping-pong size balls (depending on your state). The balls are
swept around inside the machine with a combination of air and a mechanical
arm device. Numbers are randomly chosen when 6 of the balls are sucked
down a tube which leads from the main chamber of the lottery machine and
onto a presentation tray.
Best Bet simulates the lottery machine in software by "shuffling" a set
of simulated balls around inside the computer. All the time Best Bet is
running, it is shuffling 5 complete sets of simulated "ping-pong" balls.
The balls are shuffled in a highly random pattern. When you decide to
select some lottery numbers, a simulated ping-pong ball is selected from
the random pool of available balls. Once a ball (number) is selected from
one of the simulated lottery machines, it is no longer available to be
selected again (just like the real machine). When all six balls (numbers)
have been chosen, that lottery machine is "reset" (like when all the balls
are first dropped into the machine). The machine then begins shuffling
the simulated ping-pong balls again, until you decide to choose more
lottery numbers. Since there are 5 completely separate lottery machines
being simulated, when you select a "playslip" (Plays A-E in Texas), you
are selecting the random numbers from 5 different simulated lottery
machines within the computer.
B E S T B E T Features:
--------------------------
Best Bet was designed to operate on the simplest monochrome IBM PC and
the most powerful 486 personal computers available today. It is intended
to assist you in analyzing past lottery drawing results by providing you
with statistical analysis information about past lottery drawings. It is
designed to assist you with the most important task of all, picking your
lottery numbers. Best Bet supports the following key features:
* Select your Lottery Numbers by playboard or entire playslip
Your choice of number selection criteria:
- Your lucky number(s)
- Control the range (min/max) of numbers (the "spread" or range)
- Most-frequent winning numbers
- Least-frequent winning numbers
- Random number selection
* SMART-WHEEL Wheel Generator
- Create "wheels" of number combinations from 7 to 50 numbers
- You select numbers or computer will select them with you
* Analyze past winning Lottery Drawings
- All or most recent winning drawings
- Calculates statistics: Averages, Spreads, Gaps, Deviation,
Odd vs. Even numbers and more.
- Number of times each number has Hit on a winning drawing
- Number of drawings since each number has Hit
- Enter new drawings as they occur to update drawing database
* SMART-FILTER(tm) Statistical Filter
- BEST BET contains prior drawing information (if you keep it
up-to-date with drawing information). One of the problems
with any number picking system is that it usually will pick
numbers that are not statistically "normal" for random
numbers. While it is true that random numbers allow for any
series of numbers to be picked, in practice lottery drawings
do seem to follow some short-lived patterns. Additionally,
lottery drawing random numbers tend to be "evenly distributed"
more often than not. Not always, but more often than not...
Since more often than not is better than "completely unknown",
if we can "play the odds" in our favor by using statistical
measures that tend to occur more frequently, we increase our
chances of winning (if we play regularly). Well, everyone has
their own beliefs about lottery numbers and how (un)predictable
they are, so suffice it to say that we statistical filters are
supported by BEST BET.
The statistical filter eliminates "bogus" number combinations,
that is, sequences of numbers which are outside of the filter's
"pass band". The filter is "tuned" to accept certain kinds
of number sequences and reject others. For example, let's look
at a typical "pick 6" lotto. It is common to have 3 odd and
3 even numbers in a pick 6 lotto. It is (less) common to see
2 even / 4 odd and to see 4 even / 2 odd combinations. It is
rare to see 5 / 1 ratios of odd/even or even/odd. It is very
rate to ever see 6 / 0 combinations. Therefore, our SMART-
FILTER can be tuned to odd and even numbers. You can choose
how many "even" numbers to allow to "pass through" the filter.
For example, if you selected "3 even" numbers for the filter
setting, only combinations of 6 numbers which were half odd
and half even would be selected; example: 1-3-7-20-30-32.
The SMART-FILTER will eliminate all number sequences which
do not meet this even number "criteria".
The following SMART-FILTER tuning criteria are supported:
* Spread range
* Average
* Standard Deviation
* Even Number Count
* Gap Average
* Cumulative Average
For more detailed information about SMART-FILTER and how it
can be used, see the help information elsewhere in BEST BET
(such as in the About BEST BET menu, for example).
* Game Selection
BEST BET now supports virtually any lottery game. Most lotteries in the
USA are supported. Other games can be custom defined to BEST BET, so
most any lottery game can be added to BEST BET.
If you like to play more than a single lottery, you can readily switch
back and forth between your favorite lottery games with BEST BET.
* Preferences
- Common game parameters are configurable to save you time and
allow you to customize the program's abilities to meet your
desired playing strategy. For example, you can also set the
program's colors to your liking.
* On-line Help
- Provides you with quick information about how to use the game
and saves you time (to play the Lottery and enjoy the other
pursuits of life you choose).
We hope you enjoy your Best Bet Lottery software. If we can assist you by
